The religious people who think the world is coming to an end
are very mistaken. The world isn’t ending any time soon based on our
understanding of time. Nonetheless, the world of each one of us is coming to an
end. Generations before ours have claimed the world is coming to an end due to the
mysterious signs seen such as; man’s inhumanity to man, as well as the
prevalence of moral decadence etc. What we have realized is that it is
those generation that are no more, not the world.
I SMH (shake my head) with concern and grief when I watched
the video of the child been crushed by a van in China. Passersby walked by without
the thought of helping the child. The Chinese Government has a regulation on/against?
helping the victim of an accident. Could
it be so bad that because people are not willing to pay a fine illegally
charged on them, they decided to leave the child to die? Though this happened
far away in China, if we are not careful such may start happening in our
society.
We seem to be forgetting our good cultural values of morality and care for our kinsmen. The western culture which we are inculcating makes our neighbours total stranger to us. I wonder how many people know who their neighbour really is. I will find it strange if an elder can correct the child of his/her neighbour. All we fancy is dressing naked, riding in expensive cars and showing-off to others our ill-gotten wealth.
There has been widespread criticism about the event of the child. The child is in coma and lots of questions are been asked regarding the morality of not just the people who walked past the child but the society at large.
