The Yoruba leader...

The late icon Obafemi Awolowo is being appreciated more after his death. He alongside Moshood Kashimawo Abiola are being regarded as the president Nigeria never had.
They left so many legacies which people do point to which I haven’t seen or maybe I never bothered to. I am sure during their time they had critics who still picked holes in what they claim to do best.
People like the Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka. The late Gani Fawehinmi have always been in the for-front of criticizing every political office holder or elite politician.
In my opinion, the likes of Festus Keyamo have only used the struggle to get noticed and get contracts.
All the aforementioned are not the topic of discussion for today but the popular Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu. I remember vividly the issue of Chicago. The late Gani Fawehinmi dared Asiwaju to come out with his international passport to prove he really schooled in Chicago the time he claimed to.
I remember Gani Fawehinmi coming on a TV station saying Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi came prostrating that he should let the case be. Though fans and party followers won’t agree with these but i am happy a media house made reference to this (234next Thursday 23/09/2011).

Recently Asiwaju is been tried for having several foreign accounts while serving as the governor something which he hasn’t denied.. All he had to say was that they should prove if he used state fund to open or fund it.
The average unbiased man knows that the charges against him are that he had those accounts. Using it for syphoning money or using state fund to open it isn’t the issue. it is clear that no political office older should operate a foreign account while serving and Asiwaju went against this.
It makes no sense when we say this is a political persecution. If truly he has done something wrong then he should face the music. A fan of his said i just happen to be part of the 1percent that isn’t seeing things right. i agree if i am part of the little that see the right thing than being in the multitude of the blind.
I don’t expect the ardent followers of ACN to listen to reasoning on this issue and i know a lot of people are sure behind him.
My prayer is that the judiciary does its job; i hope the anti-corruption agency brings forth more evidence and i hope the government doesn’t settle this politically or out of court.
If Asiwaju should suddenly become a billionaire just after governing for eight years and he is the leader of ACN i refuse to be a follower of such party. ACN is gaining ground in the southwest doesn’t make him the Yoruba leader
